One of my main responsibilities is that I am the leader of the Valkries. Also known as the goddess of war and death, I take the bravest fallen soldiers with me to spend their after-life in my home, and I also invite their wives and families to join them so they remain joyous. I am also called to comfort those who are dying before they are taken to Valhala, where most fallen soldiers go to spend their after-lives with Odin.
My cloak made of Falcon feathers is often associated with me, as well as the flower Milkweed. I come from Asgard, the home of most Norse gods and goddesses, and have many friends, who are also my lovers. I don't have very many enemies, but I have never gotten along with Loki, for he loves to accuse me of things that are sometimes, and only sometimes true.
I am commonly very passionate, and caring. I'm very generous to let fallen warriors spend the eternity of their after-lives in my home, and I am usually very cheery. I can be manipulative, sneaky, and seductive. Within minutes most are wrapped around my finger, but I am also very loving.
My main symbol is my golden chariot with my two horses, given to me by Thor. This commonly represents me.
hi Freya, this is Isis. You said that one of your main responsibilities was to lead the Valkyries and I was wondering what those were.
ReplyDeleteValkyries are the beings who take fallen soldiers to Valhalla, where they live their afterlives with Odin in Asgard. I myself take some of these warriors to come live with me in their afterlife.
DeleteHello its Nut! I find it very interesting that you are a goddess of war, and yet you are also the deity of love and fertility, which seems to be opposites? Your one busy lady!
